RUKELI, the animated short film directed by Alessandro Rak, is among the finalists of the Festival Internazionale Nebrodi Cinema DOC 2026, taking place from September 21 to 27, 2026 in the province of Messina.

The film is scheduled to screen on Friday, September 25 at 9:30 AM, at the Teatro Alfieri in Naso (ME).

The morning screening will be dedicated to school students, while from the afternoon through the evening the Festival will open its programme to the general public.

Nebrodi Cinema DOC promotes independent cinema in all its forms, with particular attention to local territories, lesser-known and often forgotten stories, environmental protection, social issues and solidarity.

RUKELI’s presence among the finalists marks another step in the short film’s journey and a further opportunity to bring to audiences the story of Johann “Rukeli” Trollmann, a Sinti boxer persecuted by the Nazi regime.

We are happy that the film continues its journey within a festival that gives space to works capable of questioning memory, society and the present.
