Rukeli receives two awards at Periferie Animate!

We are delighted to announce that Rukeli, directed by Alessandro Rak, has received two important recognitions at Periferie Animate: the award for Best Documentary and a Special Mention.

Best Documentary

“For the narrative and visual power with which the film restores dignity and gives voice to a necessary story, combining documentary language with the expressive force of animation in a moving, socially engaged and profoundly relevant work.”

Special Mention

“For its ability to tell a story of memory, identity and resistance through an intense and deeply human perspective. The use of animation and the film’s visual choices strengthen the emotional and social value of the narrative, making memory vivid and necessary.”

These two awards recognise the artistic and civic value of Rukeli and its ability to recount a story of persecution, dignity and resistance through the expressive power of animation.

The film tells the story of Johann Wilhelm Trollmann, the Sinti boxer persecuted by the Nazi regime, transforming his life into a powerful reflection on memory, discrimination, identity and human rights.

We sincerely thank the festival, the juries and the entire Periferie Animate team for these important recognitions.
