Rukeli and the memory of the Porrajmos in ANSA coverage

There is no memory without the telling of stories of struggle.

In a feature by ANSA.it, director Alessandro Rak recalls the Holocaust of the Roma and Sinti people – the Porrajmos – a tragedy too long forgotten, in which hundreds of thousands were exterminated by the Nazis.

It is from this wound in history that Rukeli was born: the animated short film that tells the life of Johann Wilhelm Trollmann, the Sinti boxer who defied Nazism and today stands as a symbol of resistance and dignity.

Produced by AntropicA, in co-production with Sideways Studios and Film i Väst, in association with Mad Entertainment and in collaboration with Rai Cinema, and born from an idea by Chi rom e chi no, Rukeli was presented at La Biennale di Venezia in the Orizzonti Corti – Fuori Concorso section.
