Rukeli: the Roma champion who defied the camps, featured on Il Mattino

“The Roma champion who defied the camps”
Thanks to Titta Fiore for her article in Il Mattino dedicated to our animated short Rukeli.

“Minorities are the true wealth of a non-conformist way of thinking, a resource for society. Roma culture carries a great lesson: feeling that you belong to the earth, rather than believing the earth belongs to us, distances us from the idea of conflict more than our convictions do. […] Telling the tragic end of Rukeli is important because the darkest moments in human history, unfortunately, return with dramatic evidence. In Gaza, humanity itself is at risk. We must stop this atrocious war.”

To remain human, to resist, to fight: to walk together in search of a utopian horizon, for the liberation and dignity of all peoples.
This was the small yet powerful artistic and cinematic journey that led to the creation of the animated film Rukeli, a symbol of redemption from all oppression.
Together, we can change the world.

Produced by AntropicA, in co-production with Sideways Studios and Film i Väst, in association with Mad Entertainment and in collaboration with Rai Cinema, and born from an idea by Chi rom e chi no, Rukeli was presented at La Biennale di Venezia in the Orizzonti Corti – Fuori Concorso section.
