Rukeli by Alessandro Rak had its world premiere at the 82nd Venice Film Festival, La Biennale di Venezia, in the Orizzonti Corti Out of Competition section.
The first images from the carpet capture the memory of a small yet significant achievement, bringing together young people from Scampia, Roma and non-Roma alike, united in a shared journey to rediscover an important chapter in the history of the Roma people, who made a meaningful contribution to the fight against Nazism and Fascism and who continue to resist discrimination and ghettization, both institutional and otherwise.
A large delegation was able to attend the premiere in Venice thanks to the support of Rai Cinema and Film Commission Regione Campania.
The project was born in Naples and reached Gothenburg through a co-production with Sideways Studios and Film i Väst.
