Unibo Magazine highlights Rukeli at Venice Film Festival

The animated short film Rukeli had its world premiere at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, in the Orizzonti Corti – Out of Competition section, and was the subject of a dedicated article on Unibo Magazine.

Directed by Alessandro Rak and written by Biagio Di Bennardo and Emma Ferulano, the film tells the story of Johann Wilhelm “Rukeli” Trollmann, a Sinto boxer who became middleweight champion in Nazi Germany before being persecuted and eventually killed in a concentration camp.

The project grew out of an artistic and educational workshop with Roma and non-Roma youth in Naples, led by the association Chi Rom e Chi No as part of the European project TRACER – Transformative Roma Art and Culture for European Remembrance, coordinated by the University of Bologna and funded by the EU CERV programme.
