World-premiered at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival in the Orizzonti Short Films section and winner of the 2026 Nastro d’Argento Award for Best Animated Short Film, RUKELI tells the story of Johann “Rukeli” Trollmann, a Sinti boxer who defied racial discrimination under Nazi Germany, becoming a symbol of courage and resistance.

Developed through a collective creative process initiated by the Chi rom e chi no association in Scampia, Naples, with the participation of young Roma and non-Roma people, RUKELI brings together animation, historical memory, and social engagement.

The film’s selection for the Sicilian festival marks another step in its national and international festival journey, continuing to bring to audiences a powerful story of resistance against racism and discrimination.

RUKELI is produced by Antropica, in co-production with Sideways Studios and Film i Väst, in association with MAD Entertainment, in collaboration with Rai Cinema, and with the support of the Campania Region Film Commission. Italian distribution is handled by Premiere Film.
