RUKELI, the animated short film directed by Alessandro Rak, is among the finalists of the Cecinema Film Festival, taking place from September 24 to 28, 2026 in Cecina, in the province of Livorno.

The film will be screened on Saturday, September 26 at 5:10 PM at the Palazzetto dei Congressi, in Piazza Guerrazzi, Cecina, as part of the animation section “Tratti diVersi.”

Admission to the screening is free, subject to availability.

The selection at Cecinema marks a new stage in RUKELI’s festival journey and another opportunity to bring to audiences the story of Johann “Rukeli” Trollmann, a Sinti boxer persecuted by the Nazi regime.

Through the language of animation, the short film directed by Alessandro Rak brings strength and memory back to Trollmann’s story, transforming it into a tale of identity, discrimination, resistance and dignity.

We are happy that RUKELI continues to reach new festivals and new audiences, and that the film has found a place within an event devoted to cinema that engages with social issues and the stories of our time.
