It’s a celebration in Florence for SHE. I’m grateful for these two awards received at Festival dei Popoli from Il Cinemino and AMC – Associazione Montaggio Cinematografico e Televisivo.

First of all, my thoughts go to the long and complex editing process that shaped SHE. Editing has always been the most exhausting phase for me. Unlike fieldwork, which I approach with enthusiasm and curiosity, the editing room is where everything comes together, where every choice carries weight, and every second of film becomes a responsibility.

That is why I want to sincerely thank the entire editing team: Alice Roffinengo, who handled the second part of the editing with great professionalism, awareness, and deep sensitivity toward the protagonists and the narrative; Armando Duccio Ventriglia, who has been part of the project since the very beginning, from the research phase, contributing ideas and proposals that also influenced the writing; Roberto Zinzi, who supported us from start to finish with patience, technical expertise, and the ability to solve every challenge, even from afar.

A special thanks to Emma Ferulano, a cross-cutting and essential presence, and to Michela Cerimele, with whom I shared the birth and development of this project. The days and nights spent together choosing the most delicate and necessary words and images will remain unforgettable.

Thank you to Aline Hervé and Lizi Gelberg for their generous and invaluable advice during the darkest moments, in that scorching summer spent inside the editing room searching for direction. A warm thank you to Roberto Minervini for his guidance when crucial decisions about the film’s form had to be made.

A thought also goes to Maria Sole Vu and Thanh Huong, who helped us with translations and subtitling with patience and generosity. Thank you to Bartholomeus Saruz for being much more than a colorist, a true reference point since the production stage.

Thank you to Quentin Laurent, a sensitive and patient producer, capable of motivating and supporting the film through its most difficult moments, always with trust and clarity.

Finally, thank you to Il Cinemino for this recognition. We hope to bring SHE to Italian theatres as soon as it becomes possible, after the scheduled broadcast linked to the selective funding. It is important to speak about labour and workers’ rights, in one of the most tragic moments in the history of the working classes.

Today is a celebration for SHE, for all our women workers in Vietnam, and for everyone who believed in this film. Long live Festival dei Popoli, which continues to be a precious space for documentary cinema and for stories that help us look at the world with more attentive eyes. Thank you all.
