SHE in south korea – Jeonju International Film Festival
SHE by Parsifal Reparato at Jeonju International Film Festival, in South Korea.
The international journey of SHE, the documentary film directed by Parsifal Reparato, continues in South Korea with its selection at the 전주국제영화제 Jeonju International Film Festival, in the Frontline section.
The section is dedicated to films that engage with the conflicts of the present, question social transformations, and place cinema in direct dialogue with political and economic realities, as well as with the world of work.
The film had its Korean premiere on May 1 in Jeonju, a particularly meaningful date for a work that focuses on the conditions of women workers in the electronics industry and the dynamics of global production.
On May 5 and 6, SHE was presented in the presence of the director, with screenings followed by Q&A sessions and public discussions. The meetings explored the themes of contemporary labour, health, rights, and the forms of exploitation that run through international industrial supply chains.
The dialogue also included the participation of EunHee Lee, director of Colorless Odorless, in a conversation between two perspectives that, from different viewpoints, tell closely connected realities: that of global production and its consequences on the bodies and lives of women workers.
On May 6, a special screening was also introduced by SHARPS, a South Korean organization that has long fought for the rights of workers in the semiconductor industry, for the recognition of occupational diseases, and for compensation for victims exposed to toxic chemical substances, particularly within the Samsung supply chain.
SHE’s presence in Jeonju thus opened up a space for dialogue between cinema, research, and activism, connecting Vietnam, South Korea, and the global transformations of contemporary labour.
