RUKELI by ALESSANDRO RAK comes back to italian cinemas

Rukeli by Alessandro Rak comes back to Italian Cinemas.

Starting this week, Rukeli the animated short film directed by Alessandro Rak, comes back to cinemas across Italy with Corto Che Passione, the initiative that brings to the big screen the winners and finalists of the Nastri d’Argento 2026.

After winning the Nastro d’Argento for Best Animated Short Film, Rukeli continues its journey in cinemas, meeting new audiences within a project that puts the short film format and the strength of short cinema back at the centre.

The next screening will take place in Naples on Tuesday, May 12, at 5:00 PM, at CasaCinema Napoli. Director Alessandro Rak will also be present for the screening.

For RUKELI, this Neapolitan stop carries a special meaning. Naples is deeply connected to the film’s human and creative journey, which was also developed through the work of Chi rom e chi no in Scampiam, Naples.

The short film continues to bring to the big screen the story of Johann Wilhelm Trollmann, known as Rukeli, a Sinti boxer persecuted by Nazism. His story is one of redemption, pride and freedom, giving voice and memory to one of the victims of the Porrajmos Samudaripen, the Holocaust of the Roma and Sinti communities.

Through animation, RUKELI turns memory into a living, necessary and urgent cinematic experience.
