RUKELI by ALESSANDRO RAK AT Bref International Short Film Festival
Rukeli by Alessandro Rak at Bref International Short Film Festival.
Rukeli, the animated short film directed by Alessandro Rak, has been selected for the Bref International Short Film Festival, in the national competition.
The screening took place in Aosta (Italy) on April 24, 2026, at 9:00 PM, at Plus Spazio Arena.
The selection confirms Rukeli’s journey through festivals dedicated to short films, within a context that recognises short cinema as a space for vision, dialogue and civic engagement.
The film brings to the screen the story of Johann Wilhelm Trollmann, known as Rukeli, a Sinti boxer persecuted by Nazism. His story of pride, resistance and freedom continues to speak to the present and to keep alive the memory of the Porrajmos Samudaripen, the Holocaust of the Roma and Sinti communities.
Rukeli’s presence at the Bref International Short Film Festival marks another important step for a film that brings together memory, animation and a reflection against all forms of discrimination.
